First off, some unfortunate news, but I will be unable to come to you live from the boys district semifinal basketball games tonight. The Blue Springs South gymnasium doesn't provide the ability to do so, therefore I won't be able to give live updates.
If possible, I will do what I can from my phone but that would be all.
As for the matchups tonight, they should be excellent.
At 5:30, Lee's Summit North will take on Lee's Summit West. The first meeting between the two was a defensive battle that saw the Broncos overcome a late deficit with a strong fourth quarter, winning 37-32. West scored just 2 points in the fourth quarter of that meeting, so it's no surprise senior Melvin Turner said one of the keys tonight would be "making shots."
If the Titans can execute on offense and knock down some shots, they're going to give the Broncos all they can handle. THey proved they can guard them in the first meeting, but they'll need some offense to give them a shot.
Following that game will be Lee's Summit against Blue Springs South. The two teams split the first two meetings this season, with each team winning on their home floor.
This game will be at South, which might give them an advantage, but I doubt it. The Jaguars have been a tough team to figure out this season. You never know which team is going to show up.
South has some shooters but they really look to post player Shawn Meyer for production, so if Nathan Schumacher and Ladarrius Whitehead can shut him down, they can get out and pressure the South guards and not give them open looks.
Meanwhile, the Tigers should be able to score on the Jaguars, especially if they played defense the way they did against Blue Springs on Monday. The Tigers have several weapons inside and out, so as long as they come out with a strong effort and are ready to play, they'll have a good shot to make the title game.
Check back later tonight for results and a breakdown of the action.
