Snowstorm changes plans for local tournaments

The Springs sports season was rudely welcomed by one last Winter blast over the weekend, postponing play for the next two days in the R-7 KC Metro Lead-Off Baseball Tournament and the Tiger/Bronco/Titan Soccer Invite.

The baseball tournament was supposed to begin today and run until Thursday.

Now, play is scheduled to begin Wednesday, with the condition of the fields still being a concern. But if the fields are playable, play will resume Wednesday and go until Saturday.

Here are the pool play schedules for area teams:

Lee's Summit: Wednesday - 3 p.m. vs. William Chrisman at Legacy Field No. 8; 6 p.m. vs. Belton at Legacy Field No. 8; Thursday - 6 p.m. vs. Liberty on Field No. 8

Lee's Summit North: Wednesday - 1 p.m. vs. Park Hill at Legacy Field No. 8; Thursday - 3 p.m. vs. Rockhurst at Legacy Field No. 5; 6 p.m. vs. Blue Springs at Legacy Field No. 6

Lee's Summit West: Wednesday - 1 p.m. vs. Park Hill South at Legacy Field No. 6; 6 p.m. vs. Staley at Legacy Field No. 5; Thursday - 3 p.m. vs. Ray-Pec at Legacy Field No. 8

Championship and consolation games are scheduled for Friday and Saturday with times dependong on how each team places in their pool.

As for the soccer tournament, play has been pushed back to Wednesday-Friday with each team playing their games on their home fields. Here are the schedules for area teams:

Lee's Summit: Wednesday - 4 p.m. vs. Sedalia Smith-Cotton
Thursday - 4 p.m. vs. Smithville
Friday - 6 p.m. vs. O'Hara

Lee's Summit North: Wednesday - 6 p.m. vs. Raytown South
Thursday - 4 p.m. vs. Ray-Pec
Friday - 6 p.m. vs. Park Hill

Lee's Summit West: Wednesday - 4 p.m. vs. Kearney
Thursday - 4 p.m. vs. Liberty
Friday - 6 p.m. vs. Blue Springs
