Here are a couple of area tennis scores from Thursday:
Lee's Summit West 5, Blue Springs South 4
Nathan Mikle, Tucker Kane and Ryan Gleue all picked up wins in singles play, while the team of Nick Baker/Mikle picked up a win at No. 2 doubles, as did the pair of Kane/Gleue at No. 3.
This is a really nice win for the Titans to begin the season. The Jaguars are a little down this year after several years of being one of the top public schools, but, nonetheless, a solid win for sure. The Titans will gear up for cross-town rival Lee's Summit North Friday.
Lee's Summit 3, Staley 6
The Tigers got a pair of wins at the top of their singles play, with No. 1 Mark Hansen and No. 2 Matt Reynolds each coming out on top.
Lee's Summit also picked up a doubles win from Reynolds/Wolz at No. 2 doubles.
The Tigers were without a varsity player at the back end of their rotation, not to mention Hansen was unable to stick around for doubles due to other school commitments. They should have a solid top 2 with Hansen and Reynolds, while head coach Luke McKenney is hopeful the rest of the lineup can continue to progress throughout the season.
